Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
Our Grade 10 students will be writing the 2017 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) this Thursday, March 30th.  Students originally had an opportunity to write the test in October, however, technical difficulties prevented the majority of students in Ontario from completing the assessment.  We have used this additional time to review concepts, outline test structure and highlight previous tests for student support.

Student Grade Level Assemblies regarding Opioid use
As part of our ongoing effort to share information from Ottawa Public Health, the Ottawa Police Service and our partnership with Rideauwood Addictions Services, we delivered grade level assemblies to our students this past week.   Jessica Whelan, our Rideauwood Counsellor and Const. Cindy Cybulski, our School Resource Officer collaborated with our student services counsellors on the presentations that outlined important information, as well as clarifying the roles that each of these individuals play.  The presentations highlighted awareness around illicit opioid and fentanyl use, warning signs of those who may be using, and what to do in emergencies.  We will continue to bring up to date information to our students, parents and staff.

Rescheduled Student and Staff Information regarding Opioid use
Fact sheets regarding illicit opioid use were shared with staff, students and sent home for parent review prior to the March Break.  This is part of our ongoing effort to share information from Ottawa Public Health, the Ottawa Police Service and our partnership with Rideauwood Addictions Services with our staff, students and parent community.  Due to our inclement weather day on March 7th, we have rescheduled our grade/panel assemblies to this Tuesday, March 21st.  Our Rideauwood Counsellor and our School Resource Officer are collaborating on the presentations that will outline important information, as well as clarifying the roles that each of these individuals play.  These professionals are also presenting up to date information to our staff this week at our monthly meeting.  If parents have questions, we would encourage you to contact the school.

The All Saints production of “Annie”
Congratulations to Ms. Pasini and her large student contingent on the production of “Annie”.  The troupe presented to a huge group of elementary students this past Thursday with shows on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.  The group did a fantastic job, and the show was complemented by some great singing and a unique set.

Multicultural Fair
We appreciate the many students who contributed to our Cultural Fair this past Friday.  Students created displays including cultural icons, information, symbols and some great snacks.  There was information regarding the Philippines, Ukraine, Great Britain, Ireland, and Poland among other countries.  There was a great opportunity for students to reflect on the idea of cultural identity, which was the key to getting a ticket to the many culturally relevant snacks!
